Here are my favorite TV shows, in no particular order.
Freaks & Geeks - Great show about two groups of people in a high school, the antidote to Beverly Hills 90210! NBC sadly cancelled the show after only 18 episodes
Six Feet Under - Kept up the quality during all 5 seasons
The Sopranos - Great show, even though they could have stopped after season 5 IMO. Vito's new life in New Hampshire being one of the few highlights in the long 6th season
OZ - Six seasons of high quality TV
Homicide: Life on the Street - The characters are driving this show, in stead of the classic solve-a-case formula, with 2 dimensional characters, as seen in CSI for example. Pembleton is one of my favorite characters, ridiculously stubborn, always seeing ghosts and picking fights he can't win with his colleagues
The Wire - "...has been called the best show on television by TIME, Entertainment Weekly, The Guardian, the Chicago Tribune, Slate, the San Francisco Chronicle and the Philadelphia Daily News" [from wikipedia] I agree
The Shield - Rampant crime and corrupt cops and politicians in LA - perfect combo! Some fatigue setting in in the last season, though...
Profit - Sinister and evil - good stuff
The Kingdom - The original danish version created by Lars von Trier in 1994 - the perfect blend of humor, spookiness and surrealism. I haven't seen the Kingdom Hospital from 2007 -- Stephen King's interpretation of the original -- so I can't comment on that
The X-Files - a classic, the first few years were great
Mythbusters - My favorite episode was the one with the Hungarian wooden cannon
Kvarteret Skatan - Swedish show, fantastic!
Chappelle's Show - In some ways carrying on the torch from Bill Hicks, who got it from Lenny Bruce
The Daily Show With Jon Stewart - Very much needed in these days of too much biased news reporting
Curb Your Enthusiasm - Larry David hit the bulls eye with this one, hilarious!
Scrubs - Featuring one of my favorite actors John C. McGinley as Dr. Perry Cox - the guy calling J.D. Bambi. He also had great roles in movies such as Platoon and Wall Street, directed by Oliver Stone
